Open Your Home, Change a Life

Every animal deserves a safe place to heal.

Foster families are the beating heart of Angels to the Animals. By opening your home — even temporarily — you give an animal the care, comfort, and love they need to thrive until they find their forever family.

Why Fostering Matters

Shelters can only do so much. Foster homes give animals something a shelter never can — a real home environment where they can relax, recover, and show their true personality.

A Home to Heal In

Animals in foster care recover faster, de-stress sooner, and bond more readily with adopters. A quiet home is the best medicine we can offer.

We Learn Who They Are

Foster families help us understand each animal's personality, habits, and quirks — making adoptions more successful by matching the right pet to the right family.

You Create Space to Save More

Every animal in a foster home frees up capacity for another rescue. Your spare room can set off a chain reaction that saves multiple lives.

Find Your Foster Match

Fostering isn't one-size-fits-all. Whether you have a week or several months, a quiet apartment or a big backyard, there's a foster situation right for you.

High CommitmentNewborns

Bottle Baby Foster

Neonatal kittens and puppies require around-the-clock feeding every 2–4 hours. This rewarding role is ideal for people who work from home or have a flexible schedule.

Medical1–12 Weeks

Recovery Foster

Animals healing from surgery, injury, or illness need a calm, quiet space and gentle care. All medication and follow-up vet visits are fully covered by AttA.

Patient HouseholdsVariable Duration

Socialization Foster

Shy, under-socialized, or feral-adjacent animals need gentle daily interaction to build trust in people. Patience is the only prerequisite.

Active Households

Puppy & Kitten Socialization

Young animals need exposure to children, other pets, and everyday household sounds before adoption. Busy, loving homes are perfect for this role.

3+ Months

Extended-Term Foster

Senior animals, special-needs pets, or those awaiting a very specific home may stay longer. These placements often lead to a "foster fail" — the best kind of failure there is.

On-Call

Emergency & Overnight Foster

Available on short notice for rescued animals who need a safe place for a night or a few days while a longer placement is arranged. Perfect for flexible schedules.

From Our Foster Families

The people who open their homes share their stories.

Give fostering a try, especially if considering adoption. Find joy, companionship, and a sense of purpose.

Dave King

We weren’t experts, but we had time and love. Our fostering journey began with ‘staycations.’ So far, we’ve fostered ten dogs over two years.

Lynn King

If I had a million dollars and unlimited property, I would adopt EVERY poor little, stray or unwanted animal, but I have neither, so fostering helps them -- and me.

Eileen

Fosters provide a pathway for these sometimes abused, often neglected, and unwanted animals to start to thrive and develop new trusting relationships, forging a pathway to their forever home.

Eileen

I learned how resilient my dog was after all the hardship of losing her puppies last year. She opened our hearts and was affectionate from the beginning.

Common Questions

We hear these a lot. If your question isn't here, reach out — we're happy to chat.

Do I need prior experience with animals to foster?expand_more

No prior experience is required for most foster types. We provide full orientation and training before you welcome your first animal, and our support team is always reachable. Bottle baby and medical fosters do benefit from some experience, and we'll walk you through everything regardless.

What if I already have pets at home?expand_more

Many of our foster families have resident pets. We carefully match animals to homes and discuss any compatibility considerations beforehand. We'll never place a foster animal who could create conflict with your existing pets without your full awareness and agreement.

What if I fall in love and can't let go?expand_more

We call it a "foster fail" — and it's genuinely the best outcome! Foster families always have first right of adoption for any animal in their care. Many of our most dedicated foster families started out by adopting their very first foster.

I rent my home — can I still foster?expand_more

Yes, as long as your lease permits pets or you have written permission from your landlord. We can provide a foster letter on AttA letterhead to help you make the case to your landlord if needed.

How long will I have a foster animal?expand_more

It depends on the type. Emergency fosters may only be overnight; bottle babies typically stay 6–8 weeks; recovery fosters range from 2–12 weeks; long-term fosters can be several months. We always discuss expected duration before placement and keep you updated throughout.
